I’ve removed some content. There I’ve said it!

After introducing a friend to tumblelogs I had the realisation that this would be the perfect outlet for my mini-posts or “asides”.

I’ve been using the method described here by Matt to display asides and while it’s worked quite well there have been a few issues.

The DJN theme has needed some code in it to determine if it should display as a post or as an aside and to handle the asides category.

I’ve not wanted them available as full blown posts, but still people could get to them via a permalink or the asides category and view them that way.

I didn’t really want people commenting on them as there’s not much to discuss, so each aside needed comments, pingbacks and trackbacks turned off which I often forgot to do.

The main feed showed the asides which wasn’t really optimal signal to noise ratio.

It’s been far to easy to bang out quickie link posts instead of spending the time to write something more substantial.

So, I present the DannyJames.net Tumblelog. I’m using Tumblr for this and have redirected the permalinks for the old asides to the relevent entries there so nothing should actually have been lost in the move.

Now I’d better start writing some real posts…
